Melody

Melody is more as one rhythm. If you play more than one rhythm, more than one instrument will be being played.. You could of course using an instrument and a music instrument playing melody. You even could do so on two music instruments.

This is where the musicians differ to composers.

Musician have the music, they playing on their music instrument in their ears, while composers relating their scripts to different instruments or music instruments or even instruments and music instruments.

Musicians, to be musicians, I think, should being able to play the variety of all music instruments on stage. If they can not, they would be guitar players, or piano player. Kind of these specialized representatives of a group of folks.

When someone would mean to be able to play melody on a instrument and a drum, just don't trust these person.

One drum and a instrument (where the volume keeps being defined trough a bottom head, normally) Will not allow you to play two rhythms and so not melody. The unclear position of the drum coming with the lack of the stable tone, gets you away from even plying on rhythm. You can't control you playing here.
